Introduction:

The STCW First Aid program, created by Global Horizon Training Center, is tailored to provide marines with comprehensive first aid knowledge essential for addressing medical emergencies in maritime settings. This course adheres to the Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) convention, ensuring participants are well-versed in theoretical aspects of maritime first aid.

Objectives:

By the end of this training, participants will:

Day 2: Medical Emergencies at Sea

  • Recognition and theoretical management of bleeding and shock

  • Wound care basics and theoretical bandaging techniques

  • Understanding fractures, sprains, and other injuries

Day 3: Managing Severe Conditions

  • Dealing with unconsciousness and its implications

  • Theoretical approach to treating hypothermia, hyperthermia, and dehydration

  • Addressing head, neck, and spinal injuries in a maritime environment

Day 4: Preparedness and Response Protocols

  • Learning theoretical approaches to emergency drills and response planning

  • Overview of first aid kits and emergency resources onboard

  • Understanding communication with external medical and emergency teams

Day 5: Review and Theoretical Assessment

  • Comprehensive review of all theoretical first aid content

  • Written examination to assess knowledge gained throughout the course
