Introduction:

Welcome to the STCW Elementary First Aid training program designed by Global Horizon Training Center. This program is aimed at providing essential first aid skills to maritime professionals in accordance with the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) Code.

Objectives:

  • To equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to provide immediate and basic first aid in maritime emergencies.

  • To ensure participants understand and can apply first aid techniques in accordance with STCW regulations.

  • To enhance participants' ability to respond effectively to medical emergencies on board.

Methodology:

The training program will utilize a combination of theoretical sessions, practical demonstrations, and hands-on exercises. Interactive discussions, case studies, and simulated scenarios will be employed to reinforce learning. Participants will have access to training materials and resources to support their understanding of first aid principles.

Target Audience:

This training program is designed for maritime professionals, including but not limited to:

  • Seafarers

Day 1: Introduction to First Aid

  • Overview of STCW Elementary First Aid requirements

  • Importance of first aid in maritime settings

  • Basic anatomy and physiology

Day 2: Assessment and Communication

  • Scene assessment and personal safety

  • Emergency communication procedures

  • Primary and secondary surveys

  • Basic life support techniques

Day 3: Common Medical Emergencies

  • Recognition and management of common illnesses and injuries

  • Cardiovascular emergencies

  • Respiratory emergencies

  • Traumatic injuries

Day 4: Practical Skills Workshop

  • Hands-on practice of first aid techniques

  • Use of first aid equipment on board

  • Simulation of emergency scenarios

  • Group exercises and role-playing

Day 5: Final Assessments and Certification

  • Written examination on first aid principles
