Introduction

This specialized training program, designed by Global Horizon Training Center, aims to equip laboratory technicians, engineers, and environmental professionals with in-depth knowledge and skills on the Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater, which is globally recognized for its accuracy and consistency in water quality analysis. The course provides hands-on and theoretical exposure to the procedures, instrumentation, quality assurance, and safety protocols involved in testing potable water, wastewater, and environmental samples. Participants will be trained in accordance with internationally accepted standards to ensure reliable, reproducible, and compliant results.

Objectives

By the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the structure and purpose of the Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater.

  • Identify key parameters for physical, chemical, and biological water quality testing.

  • Apply correct sampling procedures and laboratory practices.

  • Conduct tests for various water and wastewater indicators such as pH, BOD, COD, turbidity, and microbial content.

  • Interpret analytical results and ensure data quality and compliance with standards.

  • Integrate safety, documentation, and reporting protocols in lab environments.

Methodology

The training will use a blend of instructional methods including:

  • Expert-led theoretical presentations

  • Demonstrations of laboratory testing procedures

  • Group discussions and case studies

  • Hands-on application through simulated lab exercises

  • Daily debriefs and quizzes to reinforce learning

Organizational Impact

Organizations will benefit from:

  • Improved water quality monitoring and reporting practices

  • Enhanced regulatory compliance with environmental and health standards

  • Reduced risk of environmental contamination and public health issues

  • Better decision-making based on accurate water quality data

  • Increased competency and accountability among laboratory and operations staff

Target Audience
