Introduction:


Air navigation facilities are among the most vital and sensitive infrastructures, making their preparedness for emergencies a top priority. Self-protection teams serve as the first line of defense, helping minimize human and material losses and contain crises before they escalate.
This program aims to qualify highly trained personnel capable of responding swiftly and effectively to fires, injuries, evacuations, and security emergencies in aviation work environments.

 

Program Objectives:

  • Train self-protection team members to professionally handle emergencies.

  • Enhance participants’ skills in primary fire-fighting and rapid response.

  • Provide training in basic first aid and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).

  • Familiarize participants with industrial security principles and protection of vital facilities.

  • Prepare teams to implement evacuation plans and manage sudden incidents efficiently.

  • Develop crisis management capabilities and decision-making under pressure.

Day 1: Occupational Safety in Air Navigation Environments

  • Safety fundamentals in air navigation environments

  • Risks associated with working in control towers and navigation stations

  • Prevention concepts and compliance with local/international safety regulations

  • Introduction to Accident Causation Models

Day 2: Risk Assessment and Evaluation

  • Advanced methodologies for hazard identification and analysis

  • Using the Matrix of Risk Evaluation

  • Risk assessment reporting

  • Practical Group Workshop: Risk Mapping Exercise

Day 3: Firefighting – Basics and Hazardous Materials

  • Fire behavior & the Fire Triangle

  • Fire classifications and appropriate extinguishing agents

  • Portable fire extinguishers – types and applications

  • Introduction to hazardous materials (HAZMAT Awareness)

Day 4: Firefighting – Practical Training and Field Response

  • Fire suppression techniques (real-life scenarios)

  • Live fire simulation drill

  • Evacuation procedures during fires

  • Fire safety protocols in critical facilities

Day 5: Emergency and Evacuation Planning

  • Emergency Response Planning (ERP)

  • Designing escape maps and emergency routes

  • Evacuation drills – planning and execution

  • Role of the self-protection team during evacuations

Day 6: Industrial Security and Facility Protection

  • Fundamentals of industrial security

  • Access control systems

  • Critical infrastructure protection (CIP)

  • Securing navigation stations during threats

Day 7: Crisis and Major Emergency Management

  • Phases of crisis management

  • Incident escalation & decision-making under pressure

  • Building an Emergency Operations Center (EOC)

  • Real Case Study Reviews

Day 8: Implementing the Incident Command System (ICS)

  • ICS principles in aviation and navigation environments

  • Roles and responsibilities: Incident Commander, Liaison Officer, Safety Officer

  • Simulation: Managing a virtual incident using ICS

Day 9: Psychological and Behavioral Risk Awareness in Emergencies

  • Psychological first response in emergencies

  • Performing under pressure and team psychological factors

  • Behavioral safety and human factors in emergency response

  • Emergency communication skills

Day 10: Final Evaluation and Practical Exams

  • Full-scale multi-dimensional emergency drill

  • Team performance assessment and role distribution

  • Final Simulation Drill – Full Response Scenario

  • Program closure – Open discussion – Certificate distribution
