Introduction

The transportation and marketing of petroleum liquids and oil derivatives from their refining sources involve multiple specialized processes. These include local and global marketing mechanisms that align with market demands based on international pricing systems. Additionally, companies must develop and implement a strategic and goal-oriented approach to negotiating with suppliers, monitoring external sources, planning marketing strategies, and managing logistics services in a competitive environment.

This course provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of the technical transportation processes involved in storage, loading, and distribution from production sites and refineries. It covers various transportation methods, such as tankers, barges, trucks, railways, and pipelines, for delivering refined petroleum products and fuel to retail stations and petrochemical industries.

Given the strict regulatory landscape, compliance with safety and environmental standards is critical. The course also addresses global safety protocols, reducing emissions, and handling petroleum liquid transportation efficiently. Storage and transport equipment are categorized into four primary groups:

  1. Rail tank cars, tanker trucks, and marine vessels (loading, transit, and losses due to heavy loads).

  2. Service centers.
