Introduction

The IWCF Drilling Well Control Level 4 training program is designed by Global Horizon Training Center to prepare experienced drilling personnel for the internationally recognized International Well Control Forum (IWCF) Level 4 Certification. This intensive five-day program provides participants with advanced knowledge of well control principles, pressure control techniques, kick detection, well kill methods, and emergency response procedures in accordance with current IWCF standards.

The course combines comprehensive classroom instruction, practical simulator-based exercises, and formal competency assessments to ensure participants develop the technical knowledge and decision-making skills required to safely manage complex well control situations. Through realistic drilling scenarios and hands-on simulation, participants gain confidence in preventing, identifying, and controlling well control incidents while maintaining operational safety and compliance with industry best practices.

Objectives

By the end of this training program, participants will be able to:

  • Understand advanced well control principles and IWCF Level 4 requirements.

  • Recognize well control risks and apply preventive measures.

  • Detect kicks and identify early warning indicators.

  • Perform shut-in procedures using appropriate techniques.

  • Calculate and interpret well control data.

  • Apply primary and secondary well control methods.

  • Safely manage circulating operations during well kill procedures.

  • Respond effectively to abnormal well situations and emergency conditions.

  • Demonstrate competency using an IWCF-approved drilling simulator.

  • Successfully prepare for and complete the IWCF Level 4 Knowledge and Practical Assessments.
