Introduction

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a critical planning and regulatory tool used globally to evaluate the potential environmental consequences of proposed projects before implementation. In power development projects—especially transmission lines—EIA plays a vital role in minimizing environmental and social impacts while ensuring compliance with international safeguard policies.

This 10-day intensive training program equips participants with comprehensive knowledge of EIA processes, environmental risk assessment, international safeguard frameworks (including World Bank and IFC standards), and practical tools for monitoring and implementation. The program focuses on real-world applications in power and transmission projects, enabling participants to effectively prepare, review, and implement EIA studies in line with global best practices.

Objectives

By the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the full EIA process and its application in power and transmission projects
  • Identify and assess environmental and social impacts related to energy infrastructure
  • Apply advanced EIA methodologies and analytical tools
