  • SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) “Stick”
  • FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding) “Dual shield/Inner shield”
  • GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) “Mig”
  • Oxy-Acetylene and Oxy-Fuel cutting

Course Objective of Comprehensive Welding

The course is designed for the student to have a good understanding, solid foundation, and the skills needed for a career in welding. Each student will be trained in the SMAW and FCAW welding processes for performing full penetration welds in all positions.

Processes Covered:

  • SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) “Stick”
  • FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding) “Dual shield/Inner shield”
  • GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) “Mig”
  • Oxy-Acetylene welding, cutting, heating, and brazing

Course Outlines of Comprehensive Welding

  • Welding safety and instruction
  • Oxy-Acetylene safety and proper use when cutting
  • Arc and wire feed welding equipment set-up
  • Wire feed gas selection – pros and cons
  • Electrode designation and storage
  • Fillet welds – how to properly weld and measure them
  • Identification of welding symbols
  • How to read basic blueprints
  • How to read and use a Welding Procedure Specification (WPS)
  • Weld and fit-up of groove welds
