Introduction:

The BGAS Grade 1: Advanced Training in Coating Inspection is a comprehensive technical training program designed by Global Horizon Training Center to enhance the knowledge and inspection capabilities of professionals working in coating and surface protection fields, especially within oil, gas, marine, and infrastructure sectors. This course is intended for professionals who have already acquired basic coating inspection experience (e.g., BGAS Grade 2 or equivalent) and are now looking to deepen their skills and practical expertise in advanced surface preparation, coating systems, and inspection procedures.

Day 3: Application Monitoring and Inspection Techniques

  • Application methods (manual and automated)

  • Monitoring coating thickness: WFT, DFT measurement

  • Equipment calibration and verification

  • Common defects: pinholes, overspray, sags, dry spray – identification and control

Day 4: Quality Assurance, Documentation, and Communication

  • Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and checklists

  • Inspection reporting structure and terminology

  • Managing NCRs and site communications

  • Hands-on: writing inspection reports and visual logs

Day 5: Field Simulation and Practical Review

  • Practical exercises using inspection tools (DFT gauge, holiday detector)

  • Coating defect scenarios – identification and recommendations

  • Team-based case study and presentation

  • Review session and feedback.
